  1. I don’t know, although they say the whole package is much less costly than other storage methods.

    I expect that the track & carriage costs to be comparable to other railroad ventures, land to be less costly, and maintenance to be somewhat higher. Compared to pumped water storage, a main difference is that they need additional track/sidings at the top vs a huge reservoir, which I expect is cheaper.
