Climate Madness: Democrats Forcing US Dependence on Russian Gas Because they Hate Trump Fossil Fuel Projects

By Eric Worrall – Re-Blogged From WUWT

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chief of Staff Anthony Pugliese has accused Democrat states of undermining National Security, by scoring political points for deliberately blocking desperately needed Trump fossil fuel energy infrastructure projects.

The Democrat scorched earth strategy of obstructing vital infrastructure is forcing at least one gas company import liquid natural gas supplies from Russia, to keep US homes warm in winter.

Survey Reveals Just How Many Americans Think Political Correctness Is ‘A Big Problem’

By Tre Goins-Phillips – Re-Blogged From Independent Journal Review

A recently released survey reveals the majority of Americans believe political correctness is “a big problem” in the United States.

According to the Cato Institute’s new study — “The State of Free Speech and Tolerance in America” — 70 percent of Americans agreed with the following statement: “A big problem this country has is being politically correct.”

In addition, 71 percent of Americans believe political correctness has only served to “silence important discussions” our society needs to have. And a staggering 58 percent of Americans said today’s political climate leads them to self-censor their opinions and beliefs.

Only 28 percent of respondents believe political correctness “has done more to help people avoid offending others.”

While, per Cato, liberals are “more likely than conservatives” to see a variety of political opinions as “offensive or hateful,” they also feel more comfortable sharing their own views:

Democrats (53%) are more likely than Republicans (26%) and independents (39%) to feel they can express their opinions. […] Nearly three-fourths (73%) of Republicans and 58% of independents are afraid to share some of their true beliefs because of the political climate.

Cato rightly suggested the discrepancy could be due to the fact that, ultimately, “cultural sources of power, such as media, academia, and entertainment, may matter more” than which party — Republican or Democratic — occupies the White House.

Regardless, President Donald Trump certainly tapped into a growing concern among a majority of Americans. On the campaign trail in 2016, then-candidate Trump said, “I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct.”

Weekly Climate and Energy News Roundup #234

The Week That Was: July30, 2016 – Brought to You by www.SEPP.org

By Ken Haapala, President, Science and Environmental Policy Project

Accusation Is Evidence? Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) claims he is seeking evidence of wrongful influence by Exxon for raising doubt that carbon dioxide (CO2) is the primary cause of global warming, now called climate change. He claims he is not suppressing scientific inquiry, or freedom of speech, but merely seeking evidence. The question is what constitutes evidence to Senator Whitehouse and his group. Is it direct physical evidence, such as comprehensive temperature measurements by satellites showing atmospheric temperatures are rising in response to rising atmospheric carbon dioxide? Which is not occurring. Of course, with the latest El Niño there is little doubt that atmospheric temperatures also rise in response to El Niño weather events. Is it indirect evidence, such as surface temperatures, which are sparse (the globe is poorly covered) and measure many natural and human caused influences in addition to CO2. Or is it hearsay, rumor, such as 97% of scientists say… or scientific organizations (which have not rigorously polled) say…

Senator Whitehouse organized a teach-in given on the Senate floor on week of July 11 by Whitehouse and eighteen of his senate colleagues. A major claim is that “According to Climate Investigations Center research, your groups have received over $92 million from the Koch family, Donors Trust, Donors Capital, and ExxonMobil. And that’s just what investigators can figure out.”

Democrats Attack ‘Racist’ Declaration of Independence

By Tad Cronn – Re-Blogged From http://constitution.com

Liberals hate the Declaration of Independence. That’s one quirk of the Liberal mentality I’ve encountered repeatedly throughout the years — as much as they despise and subvert the Constitution, they reserve even more bile for the Declaration.

They hate it so much, in fact, that they will manufacture endless excuses for ignoring it, even to the point of flat out denying that it is a legal document, despite its being passed unanimously by Congress, and going even further to denying that the United States existed as a nation until our independence was “granted” — not won, “granted” like a Christmas present — by the British king.

This used to be puzzling to me, but it long ago became clear that what Liberals really objected to was the fact that the Declaration spells out in plain language that government is subservient to the people, and people get their rights — as Conservatives know — from God the Creator. The reason, too, is clear: Liberals have to destroy that principle in order to push forward their worldview and agendas, in which the state is supreme, effectively God, rights come from and can be repealed by government, the individual must serve the collective for the betterment of the state, and certain classes of people are worthier of government largesse and political favor than others.

Negative Interest Rates

cropped-bob-shapiro.jpg   By Bob Shapiro

Several countries, especially in Europe, are suppressing interest rates to the point that creditors must pay for the honor of lending the debtors money – Interest Rates are negative.

Here in the US, we have had negative REAL interest rates for most of the last generation. Negative Real Rates just means that the nominal rate is below your favorite measure of price increases in the Economy.

Negative Real Rates are extremely hard to measure, since the wonks running the various federal agencies tasked with putting out statistics such as the CPI, are political appointees. As such, they torture the data until it confesses to a low rate of Inflation. Another way to describe these agencies activities is to say, “They LIE!”
