They Say Scandinavia But They Mean Venezuela

What do Democratic Socialists like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez want America to look like? They say they want America to emulate Scandinavian countries like Denmark and Sweden. But do their proposed policies reflect that? Or do they point down a darker path? Debbie D’Souza, a native Venezuelan and political commentator, investigates.

‘Hell yes, we’re gonna take your AR-15, your AK-47…’

By Associated Press – Re-Blogged From Liberty Headlines

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke‘s recent vow to take away people’s AR-15 and AK-47 rifles raised one big question: How is it possible to round up the millions of such guns that exist in the United States?

The number of AR-15 and AK-47s in the U.S. is estimated at a staggering 16 million, creating logistical challenges to take them out of circulation. Many gun owners are also unwilling to turn over the weapons, and if the government offered to buy them all back at face value, the price tag could easily run into the billions of dollars.

Alabama: Wounded IHOP Employee Shoots & Kills Armed Man Shooting At Employees

By Tim Brown – Re-Blogged From Freedom Outpost

A Huntsville, Alabama International House of Pancakes employee drew his own gun in self-defense and the defense of others after a man began shooting at store employees.  In the process, the employee was wounded but the confrontation ended with the aggressor being killed, according to police.

According to the Associated Press:

The Huntsville Police Department on Thursday identified the two people killed in the Wednesday night shooting as IHOP employee Roy Brown and customer Roderick Turner. Brown was 56. Turner was 25.

In a statement, police said Turner was picking up a carryout order and became “disruptive and loud regarding the service at the business.”

After a confrontation, police said Turner pulled a handgun and started firing at employees, striking Brown and another worker. Police said the wounded employee “then pulled a handgun and shot the customer-shooter in self-defense of others.”

Disarmed Countries – What Do they Look Like?

By Bradlee Dean – Re-Blogged From Freedom Outpost

“So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan.” (1 Samuel 13:22)

Just recently, while taking care of business, I walked into a craft store where a woman was working. At first, I was not sure if I heard an English accent or not.  She spoke again and then I was sure of it.

I asked, “Are you from England?” and she said that she was. I then asked her how disarmament was working out for the people there.

South Carolina Introduces Secession Bill In Response To Latest Attacks On Gun Owner Rights

By Tim Brown – Re-Blogged From Freedom Outpost

The US occupied state of South Carolina, at least that is what I call my home state, is once again presenting a front just as she did against the tyrant Abraham Lincoln before the War of Northern Aggression.  Three House representatives introduced a bill that would allow for representatives to debate the issue of secession “if the federal government confiscates legally purchased firearms in this State.”

The bill was sponsored by Republican Representative Mike Pitts (Laurens) and was co-sponsored by Republican Representatives Jonathon Hill (Anderson) and Ashley Trantham (Greenville).

Self-Defense Is A Basic Human Right

By Mac Slavo – Re-Blogged From Freedom Outpost

A website is putting the final nails in the coffin of the gun control debate for good.  If you’ve ever been on the fence about whether or not you think guns should or should not be regulated, look no further.

A Human Right, the website, breaks it down so far that even the most emotionally sensitive and over the top “ban all guns” Nazis can understand what they are actually marching for and demanding.

Fla. Sheriff Says Gun Control Is Already on Campuses and Calls Arming Teachers a ‘Game-Changer’

By Jenni Fink – Re-Blogged From IJR

The Parkland, Florida, school shooting yielded calls for more gun control, but Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd instead called for arming teachers.

Judd told Fox News that gun control on every campus in Florida dictates that no one can bring a gun onto campus. He added that the only person who violates this rule is the “crazed person — the active shooter.”

California Judge Blocks Implementation of Gun Magazine Ban

By Bob Adelmann – Re-Blogged From New American

U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez issued a temporary injunction against implementation of a California law passed last year that would have turned most of the state’s six million gun owners into criminals overnight. Previous law banned high-capacity magazines (containing more than 10 rounds) but grandfathered in those owners who already possessed them. The new law repeals that exemption and punishes mere possession of the offending magazines with fines and possible jail time, starting on Saturday, July 1.

Said Benitez:

If this injunction [is not issued] hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of otherwise law-abiding citizens will have an untenable choice: become an outlaw, or dispossess one’s self of lawfully acquired property. That is a choice they should not have to make….

The State of California’s desire to criminalize simple possession of a firearm magazine able to hold more than 10 rounds is precisely the type of policy choice that the Constitution takes off the table.

An Open Letter to Donald Trump

cropped-bob-shapiro.jpg   By Bob Shapiro

Dear Mr Trump,

During your campaign speeches, you have referred to your Democratic opponent as “Crooked Hillary,” and the crowds have responded positively because they know you are speaking the truth. I suggest that you carry this line of attack forward into the remaining debates.

First, when Hillary comes out and makes a big show of shaking your hand – don’t do it. Look at her hand and say, “I don’t think so.”

Among other things, this will make an opening for you to explain why. I suggest that you say something like:

80-Year Old Thwarts Robbers

By Onan Coca – Re-Blogged From Eagle Rising

Once again, the inalienable right to self-defense comes in handy for an innocent American citizen.

Just last week, an 80-year old man in Fairmont, West Virginia, was awoken in the middle of the night by someone knocking on his front door. Wisely, he answered the door with a concealed firearm. Upon opening the door, a young woman begged to use his phone and was quickly followed into the house by two seemingly armed thugs. The men brandished their weapons and threatened the elderly man while informing him that he was being robbed. However, this was no shrinking violet they were dealing with, and the man swiftly pulled his own weapon and opened fire.

Three of the four shots connected with their intended targets and the elderly homeowner then contacted the police. When the authorities arrived they found the elderly man waiting in front of his home with the bodies of two of the tree intruders. One, 28-year old Larry Shaver was dead from a gunshot to the head, the other, John Grossklaus, had been incapacitated by a gunshot to the abdomen.

What Happens When YOU Are Put On A List?

By Mac Slavo – Re-Blogged From http://www.FreedomOutpost.com

After they have come for the terrorists, and the once-legal gun owners, what happens when they come for you?

Secret lists are becoming the law of the land. Overseas, Obama uses a secret list to authorize the killing of suspects (and bystanders) via drone strike. Execution, as determined by “secretive processes, without indictment or trial.” Some of those killed have been American citizens.

Secret lists have been used to determine who can fly on a plane, who is worth watching as a potential terrorist, and who can travel. None of this necessarily requires that a crime has been committed, or that the individual in question has done anything wrong.

But it won’t stop there.

Somewhere down the line, there is a deeper list, a simpler list. Somewhere inside the shadow government, and the ominous and secretive infrastructure it has built and seized, there is a list that doesn’t have to mind the complexities of law, or the subtleties of public scrutiny, but can just mark you down – red or blue.

The Costs and Consequences of Gun Control

In politicizing mass murders, gun control advocates, such as President Obama, insist that more laws against firearms can enhance public safety. Over and over again, there are calls for common sense gun controls, such as a system of universal background checks, a ban on high-capacity magazines, and a ban on assault weapons. And yet such proposals are not likely to stop a deranged person bent on murder.

Although universal background checks may sound appealing, the private sale of guns between strangers is a small percentage of overall gun sales. Worse, the background check bills are written so broadly that they would turn most gun owners into criminals for innocent acts — such as letting one’s sister borrow a gun for an afternoon of target shooting.

Magazine bans are acts of futility because the extant supply is enormous. Today, magazines of up to 20 rounds for handguns, and 30 rounds for rifles, are factory standard, not high-capacity, for many of the most commonly owned firearms. These magazines are popular with law-abiding Americans for the same reason they are so popular with law enforcement: because they are often the best choice for lawful defense of one’s self and others.

Government Thrives on Fear

By John Stossel – Re-Blogged From http://www.Reason.com

This Halloween, what do you fear?

I fear fear itself because when we are afraid, we willingly give away our freedoms.

Global warning? More power to the EPA!

9/11? Vote 100 to 0 to create a TSA!

Kids don’t learn? Common Core!

Crime up? Spend on police! (Or for leftists: increase welfare!)

 Immigrants? Seal the border!

Ebola? More money and power for public health programs!

Government thrives on our fears. When we’re scared, politicians are always there, promising to protect us if we just give them more money and power. We usually do.

The Fact-Free Left

  By Thomas Sowell – Re-Blogged From http://www.LewRockwell.com

The outrage over another multiple murder of American military personnel on American soil by another Islamic extremist has been exacerbated by the fact that these military people had been ordered to be unarmed — and therefore sitting ducks.

Millions of American civilians have also been forbidden to have guns, and are also sitting ducks — for criminals, terrorists or psychos.

You might think that, before having laws or policies forcing fellow human beings to be defenseless targets, those who support such laws and policies would have some factual basis for believing that these gun restrictions save more lives, on net balance, than allowing more legal access to firearms. But you would be wrong.
