Junk Science About Climate Change Acceleration

By David Middleton- Re-Blogged From WUWT

There was a time that I had a fair bit of respect for Dr. Novella.

Climate Change Is Accelerating
Published by Steven Novella under General Science

Have you ever traveled with a large group of friends? When a group gets beyond a certain “critical mass” it becomes geometrically more difficult to make decisions. Even going to a restaurant or a movie become laborious. Decision making seems to break down in large groups, especially if there isn’t an established hierarchy or process in place. That’s why the “by committee” cliche exists – group decision making can be a highly flawed and problematic process.

CO2 and Crops: NAS vs. Science

By David Burton – Re-Blogged From WUWT

One of the most pernicious examples of disinformation promoted by the Climate Industry is the claim that manmade climate change from CO2 emissions threatens agriculture and “food security.” That’s the exact opposite of the truth. CO2 is “plant fertilizer,” and hundreds of agricultural studies have shown that higher CO2 levels are dramatically beneficial for agriculture, to levels far above what we can ever hope for outdoors.

Most plants grow best with daytime atmospheric CO2 of at least about 1500 ppmv. That’s about what CO2 levels are thought to have averaged during the Cretaceous. It’s 1090 ppmv higher than the current average outdoor level of about 410 ppmv.

In other words, most plants would grow best if CO2 levels were increased by more than eight times the measly 130 ppmv by which mankind has managed to increase CO2 levels since the “pre-industrial” Little Ice Age. (Levels even higher than that wouldn’t hurt plants, but they wouldn’t help much, either.)

New RSS TLT Data is Not Believable

By Bob Tisdale – Re-Blogged From WUWT

In advance of my September 2018 global surface and lower troposphere temperature anomaly update, this is a very quick introduction to the new (over a year old) lower troposphere temperature anomaly data from RSS (Remote Sensing Systems)…just three graphs.

As you likely know, I haven’t published a monthly global temperature update in almost 2 years. Since then, in July 2017, RSS released their version 4.0 lower troposphere temperature (TLT) anomaly data. See the RSS webpage FAQ about the V4.0 TLT Update for more insights.

Temperature Tampering Temper Tantrums

By Christopher Monckton of Brenchley – Re-Blogged From WUWT

Commenters on my recent threads explaining the gaping error my team has found in official climatology’s definition of “temperature feedback” have asked whether I will update my series pointing out the discrepancy between the overblown predictions in IPCC’s First Assessment Report of 1990 on which the climate scam was based and the far less exciting reality, and revealing some of the dodgy tricks used by the keepers of the principal global-temperature datasets to make global warming look worse than they had originally reported.

Even More on the David Rose Bombshell Article: How NOAA Software Spins the AGW Game

[When I discuss Global Warming with Alarmists, I frequently ask, “If their case is so strong, then why do they need to resort to lying?” This article is one of several – as a result of a whistle blower in a government agency – dealing with the regular practice at NOAA, GISS, GHCN, and other climate data agencies of manipulating and adjusting historical data in inappropriate ways to lower older readings in order to show a stronger uptrend in the dataset. In other words, they LIE! While I would be satisfied if President Trump merely can  end the Global Warming hysteria coming out of taxpayer funded agencies, if it were up to me, the liars would go to jail. – Bob]

The disclosures by Dr. Bates concerning Karl’s ‘Pausebuster’ NOAA NCEI paper have created quite the climate kerfuffle, with Rep. Smith even renewing his NOAA email subpoena demands. Yet the Karl paper actually is fairly innocuous by comparison to other NOAA shenanigans. It barely removed the pause, and still shows the CMIP5 models running hot by comparison. Its importance was mainly political talking point pause-busting in the run up to Paris.

Here is an example of something more egregious but less noticed. It is excerpted from much longer essay When Data Isn’t in ebook Blowing Smoke. It is not global, concerning only the continental United States (CONUS). But it is eye opening and irrefutable.
